I’ve been using the RPM Q2 14mm Widebody and Vapor Power 2 as my main paddles, so the Spartus P1 Hybrid feels quite different from what I’m used to.

The first thing I noticed was the sound. It has a deeper, more solid feel at contact. It doesn’t have that overly poppy or explosive response, but instead delivers a very stable and controlled hit with plenty of power when you need it.

Spin generation is excellent, especially on serves and third-shot drives. The PermaGrit surface combined with the vertical texture pattern seems to help the ball grab the face consistently, making it easier to create spin without having to force it.

After adding some lead tape and fine-tuning the setup, the paddle felt even better. Stability improved and the overall balance suited my game much more.

One interesting thing I noticed is that when I press with my fingers around the top edge of the paddle and the upper sides near the handle, those areas feel slightly softer compared to the center of the paddle face. The center remains firm and solid, while the surrounding areas seem to provide a bit of cushioning. Whether that’s from the foam construction or the overall design, it translates into very good vibration dampening during play. The paddle feels comfortable, controlled, and easy on the arm.

Compared to my Q2 14mm Widebody and Vapor Power 2, the P1 Hybrid is definitely a different type of paddle. It isn’t the kind of paddle that instantly wows you in the first few minutes. Instead, it’s one that you appreciate more as you spend time with it. The solid feel, consistent spin, stability, and excellent vibration control make it a very well-rounded paddle that continues to grow on you the more you play with it.

Overall, a very impressive paddle that rewards extended use and offers a unique feel compared to many of the paddles I’ve played with. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Received my P1 Hybrid yesterday and overgripped and weighted it up to match my VATIC PRO V-SOL LH and my two Gen3 Apes' PRO LINE ENERGY S's.

Played with it this morning.

WOW! From the first couple of shots! This paddle has the same sound, power/pop as my VATIC (which has lost most of its spin) but with the added control/spin from the PERMAGRIT!

Very satisfied. Took a chance since I’ve never used one of their paddles before and heard mixed reviews on past paddles.

Edge-guard was a tiny bit loose in one corner out-of-the-box but I easily glued it down with some shoe glue. Stock grip was also too soft for my personal taste but that was easily remedied. I also put shoe glue under the grip plates but that’s something I do with every paddle to prevent grip ratteling.

What I like the most about this paddle is the CFC layup and the crisp feel. Some YouTube reviewers said it was more muted/dampened but to me this feels VERY responsive. I’m coming from a CRBN TFG2 + 8g perimeter weight and thought the transition would take some time but it only took 1-2 games before I felt very comfortable. Excellent hybrid dimensions too. Very quick in the hands for me.

Can’t wait to see how the Permagrit holds-up. I have a lot more confidence knowing it’s ceramic-based instead of a peel-ply composite (which feels like it’ll wear-down in the long-run regardless of what you impregnate it with). Based on my research this is the best long lasting grit currently available in May 2026.

Hits very similar to my Gherkin paddle with the added benefit of better grit. Great balance and I did not need to add any weight. Added a grip and now perfect paddle.

Insane Spin | Solid Stability

I have played with all sorts of paddles from low to high swing weight and twist weight. I think the P1 nailed that balance for me. I was worried that it would be too head heavy and slow my hands down at the net since I held a friend’s P1 before purchasing but I was pleasantly surprised that the slight extra swing weight actually helped me more than it hurt me. I am a few weeks in as a daily player and the paddle face grit hasn’t changed one bit. I bought the hybrid and am already eyeing trying out another shape out of curiosity. After bouncing from paddle to paddle the last 6 months I have finally settled. Thanks, Spartus.

Great spin and dip on drives and drips, and ball grabs more consistently on dinks. It is on the heavier side, so I went for a hybrid instead of my typical elongated, and no issues with hand speed.

I’ve been able to get out and play with the P1 and I’m loving it the amount of spin is crazy thanks for a great panel well worth the wait

I got the p1 at the same time I was playing with the j6cr. And the more I played with the p1. The more I wanted to keep playing with it. The spin and shaping of the ball is awesome. The grit holds up. The p1 surprised more than what I was expecting. Can’t sleep on this one.

Normally im a low swing weight and 8.3 static kind of guy. My P1 came in at 8.3 but after removing the rubber band and decorative butt cap I got it down to 8.2. Added an overgrip and a little weight. Its sitting at 8.4 and feels amazing my soft game and resets feel so good. Drives and serves have plenty of power too. Great overall paddle.

I don't main paddles unless they're good (this is coming currently owning pretty much all the latest greatest paddles in the market) first game it was ok nothing to write home about, a few nights later picked it up again... and Hey Now! I've used it for 5 or 6hrs and I'm impressed, good control, good pop, good power, good spin...its dwelly but responsive... so well rounded also doesn't seem to get much ball dust... It's a keeper and if i sell it I'm getting another one!

A few hitting /drilling sessions and an open play in this past week… the grit is off the charts and allows me to shape the shots…I’ve added 0.1 oz on both sides of the paddle for a little more stability and sweet spot …overall really enjoying the paddle!

Loving this paddle in both design and performance. The power is linear/predictable so I have confidence in my shots. I’ve had other power paddles, but the trampoline effect made it hard to calibrate how much power to put into each shot. I have only hit with this for 20 hours, but the grit is still good. The grit is interesting in that it has a subtle sticky element that catches onto surfaces. The stickiness does collect dust/lint so it is good to clean the grit surface with a damp microfiber cloth to maximize spin.

I have been using the P1 for about a month now. Before the P1 I had been using the Olympus for about a year. I was disappointed when the Olympus was discontinued, but after playing with the P1 for a month I think it’s an even better paddle than the Olympus. I can still get as much power on my drives and put aways, but now have more control and finesse with my drops and dinks. I’m curious to see how long the permagrit lasts, but so far I am impressed with the paddle

Comparing with the Olympus, the P1 Hybrid is superior in control with a tad less power. It is a greatly balanced paddle that has improved my soft-game and placement around the court. I've had several friends try it and all have loved it! The very visible grit with added sparkle has impressed everyone that has tried it.

I have been using the Olympus as my main for over a year and have been waiting patiently for the next gen paddle from Spartus. The P1 doesn't disappoint. At first I was cautiously optimistic, given the higher swing weight -- I prefer lighter swing weight to improve my handspeed and to allow for some customization. I've tried adding a little weight to the P1, but so far have been playing with it stock and it has been fantastic. It took a little time for me to get adjusted to the slightly higher swing weight, but the power is definitely there and I love the soft touch for the slow game. I've tried other competing paddles like the Boomstick, Loco and Quanta and while they all have power, none of them have Permagrit. I've been able to add enough spin to certain shots to really make it more challenging for opponents to deal with. My putaway shots are not lacking in power and my drops and resets have improved with the added controllability of the P1. People have commented that I am playing better with the P1 compared to the Olympus so it's not just me saying I think I play better with it. I'm so glad this is now USAP approved and Spartus definitely has a great paddle option for people to try. For me, this is definitely my new daily.

I have been playing with the paddle for a couple weeks now and for me the P1 hybrid was an easy paddle to play with. Power is good, soft game is easy, and of course the spin is awesome! look forward to seeing more of these paddles on the courts. Great job Spartus!!

The P1 has been amazing. Coming from the Olympus, it was a hard experience. Going from a poppy 14mm to a more plush 16mm is hard. I do appreciate the plush feeling now tho.

In my opinion, it's one of the most controllable power paddles out there. Sweetspot is big, and it has a very consistent feel and performance. Permagrit helps a lot with the softer shots. You can manipulate the ball easier, and on harder shots it's on par or greater than other top spin paddles out there. The longer lasting grit is a plus for my wallet and my needs.

Only downside is that it is slightly head heavy, but that helps on plowthrough. You can add weight on the lower side for some balance, but it really doesn't need it. It's a great paddle stock. Also, if you love pop, like me, it is on the lower side. As mentioned, my main was the Olympus. Where you get a bit less pop, you get a much more balanced and control feel. I'm liking it so far. The mayority of players will play better with controllable power.

Overall, this paddle is a promise for what Spartus has to offer on the next wave of paddles. This paddle uses parts over seas, but the Permagrit isn't. Made in the USA, Permagrit promises longer lasting grit with a bit more manipulation on softer shots like flicks or dinks. Can't wait for the future of Spartus USA. One step closer to 100% manufacturing in the USA.
