The grit on this paddle has amazing! Best out there in terms of durability and spin. Got mine after watching a review video and used code 10kpickleball for a discount.

I got the widebody Spartus P1 a couple weeks ago and have used it half a dozen times at 4.5 level play. I have a ton of wrist power from being a badminton player growing up into college so I can't seem to use anything other than a widebody. Even the P1 was too poppy for me stock, and I hate modding my paddles. I had to mod this one as I wanted it to be my long term paddle since it has all the features I want; foam core, widebody, long term grit, great twist and swing weights, and a more rectangular shape with a shorter grip. I hate widebody paddles that are square to allow for a long grip!

First I added a 4 inch strip of double wide lead tape on either side of the lower half of the paddle; I gained some control, but was popping the ball up still. I doubled it to 8 inches and it dialed in. I played much better, no popups and had 40-50 hit dink rally's, but I gotta be softer on my rolls or maybe add a tiny bit more lead tape.

My only slight criticism is the grit is not as gritty as expected. It definitely bites well, but I had the Spartus Apollo Kevlar and that was like SANDPAPER. If permagrit was like that it'd be perfect as I like monster spin on serves especially! I wouldn't knock a point off though as it's still more effective than most paddles I've used!

I'm super happy with it now! If the grit lasts most of the year, I'll be more than happy to buy a paddle once a year instead of every few months!

My Spartus P1 setup:
-8 inches lead tape on either side starting at the mid point downwards
-whole edge covered by electrical tape
-knockoff hesacore (ripoff) grip then double gripped on top...an extra thick handle gives forearm strain relief fyi
-cleaned usually with paddle eraser (sandpaper eraser is much cheaper), or sometimes paddle cleaner spray and wiped

I buy and try a lot of paddles. This is the first paddle I have ever tried, and I loved it right out of the gate!

I love the paddle. I bought the standard P1 after playing months with another durable grit paddle and never feeling connected with it. The P1 standard felt immediately replaced my other paddles as the main. The only problem now is that my wife likes it better than her paddle, so I might lose it to her and need to get a second.

As the only top tier grit reduction paddle with USAP approval, I don't know how this isn't the clear favorite in the market right now. I have both the elongated and wide body shape now. The elongated stock is on the heavy side, but still amazing. I got the wide body to have a lower swingweight option.

Excellent spin with reasonable power and a little bit of pop

This is the one! The hybrid and the elongated are excellent choices. I have both, but the widebody is a phenomenal paddle. I highly recommend it.

The paddle feels amazing out of the box. I mained a boomstick and although this feels less powerful, it fit my play-style well. The grit is amazing and can shape the ball real well. Handle feels great and the length of the handle is long enough for a comfortable twoey. Would highly recommend.

Best standard shape I've played with.

Swing weight is very manageable and allows customization.

The forgiveness allows for reliable resets and the spin gives you an option to roll volley Mid court.

If you are a widebody adopter, make this your next paddle.

Great paddle with great control, power and spin. I switched to the P1 standard from the CRBN Genesis standard and loving every minute. The P1 was lighter and by adding slyder weights, the P1 gave more power, control and spin than the CRBN Genesis. I am very happy with the switch.

The transition from the Apollo has been easier than expected. So far I'm very impressed with the performance.

The Spartus p1 Standard is good to go right out of the box... just slap an overgrip on and get at it. A ton of spin, stability, and forgiveness allows you to place the ball where you want at the pace you want. This paddle feels good and is a great blend of both power and control.

It was a gift for my hubby. So far he really likes it! Good spin and power! Got it because reviewers said the spin lasts, so here’s hoping…!

My last Spartus paddle was an Apollo. The P1 has several generations
of improvement. It's very stable, easy to control and the spin is excellent.
It maybe a touch heavier than a typical WB so needs little or no added
weighting. I'm hoping for extended longevity with the Permagrit.

The P1 (widebody) is off to great start with me. 2 hours of playtime in, and the spin is as advertised. Elite, high, S tier, whatever you want to call it.
Paddle came at 8.5 oz, which is on the heavy side for me as I have elbow and shoulder issues. I usually play paddles at a 8-8.1 static and 105-110 swing weight. But the P1 plays lighter than I expected. To be clear, it doesn’t play light, but it is not a slow heavy paddle, so I was happily surprised. I’m looking forward to putting more hours on my P1 this summer and seeing what I can do.

Tons of spin on dinks and soft stuff. Resets and drops feel very smooth and forgiving but there is plenty of power when you need it! A bit denser and softer feel than the highest tier power paddles, but for me, this is a good thing!

I've played a total of 9 hours since I received it last Friday. Static weight was 8.3. After one overgrip and two pieces of Eagle hockey tape covering the edge guard from 3:00 through the top to 9:00, static weight came in at 8.7. Swing weight felt lighter if not the same as my widebody Loco. The transition from the Loco was smooth. Permagrit is not tacky but definitely generates spin as advertised. Loving this paddle.

Static weight came in at 8.3. Swinging it around didn't feel as heavy as anticipated based on what people on the PB Studio Discord were saying about the Hybrid P1 (I know it's a different shape). I put one overgrip and two pieces of Eagle hockey tape to cover the edgeguard from 3:00 through the top to 9:00, which resulted in a static weight of 8.7. I don't have Briffidi to measure the swingweight but it felt lighter, if not the same, compared to my Standard Loco that I've mained since Oct 2025 and set up with two 1 inch strips of 1g/in at 2:00 and 10:00.

I've played a total of 6 hours (received Friday evening) over the weekend and the transition couldn't have been any smoother. Resets, dinks, drives, and drops didn't require much adjustment. The pop was similar as well. Overall, I'm looking forward to seeing how long this paddle w/ Permagrit will last. I have noticed white scuffmarks from playing outdoors exclusively with a Lifetime ball but nothing too crazy, and I have been cleaning after each session using Paddle Reset spray and a microfiber cloth.

I'm loving this paddle and if you're coming from a Standard Loco, I think you won't notice much of a difference. Certainly I didn't!
