Pickleball Pursuit's 2026 Paddle of the Year

Elite spin. Explosive power. Buttery feel.

Meet the Spitfire: a 7.85 oz powerhouse that breaks what's possible in pickleball. Massive power. Elite spin that doesn't fade quickly. The feel of a control paddle in a frame built to end points. USAP approved and ready for battle.

Why the Spitfire Hits Different

Turbo Foam — Gen 4 Power Core Our proprietary Generation 4 foam changes what a foam paddle can do. We made an EPP paddle sound like an MPP paddle. The result? Massive, effortless power. Big pop, no plank.

PermaGritNano — Longer-Lasting Spin The newest evolution of our groundbreaking PermaGrit surface, rated the #1 Tier 1 durable grit by Pickleball Effect. Rip heavy topspin and carve wicked slices with a texture engineered to hold its bite far longer than conventional grit, so your spin stays with you well past the point where other paddles go slick.

QuadFiber Layup — Power Paddle, Control Paddle Feel Four layers of carbon fiber configured in a proprietary layup deliver insane feel and huge dwell time. The ball stays on the face longer, giving you the touch to reset, dink, and drop — even from a paddle built for power.

Quick Hands The Spitfire whips through the air at the kitchen and quick counters in firefights with its lightning fast 107 swingweight. And here's the kicker: it packs the power to finish points and punish opponents. All the maneuverability, stability, and control of a Standard/Widebody shape while providing top tier power.

Power, spin, and feel — all in one paddle, all for $109.99. The Spitfire doesn't ask you to compromise.

Love the grit on this paddle which help generate a lot of spin

Love the grit on this paddle which help generate a lot of spin, feels fast in the hands (widebody) with enough pop to put away the balls!

Great spin with mid-power and good control

Great spin with mid-power and good control. That's hard to find that combo. It also comes in pretty low static weight and really low swing weight with the wide body. Only took me about 1/2 game to dial it in. I didn't pop any balls up which is a huge bonus. Grit is holding up so far. Great paddle at an even better price! It's not high power and it's not stiff, so be aware of that if those are your preferences. Highly recommend this paddle.

Pretty Solid!

The Spitfire is an amazing value! Very easy to recommend for about $100!
Pros: Really good power on hard shots. Good spin on soft shots. You can really aim your shots well.
Cons: Off-center shots feel very strange. This paddle is poppy and that can make resets challenging if you’re not used to that.

More poppy but better sweet spot

I've had the elongated Spitfire and I've been using it as my main in the past 2-3 months. Purchased the widebody the other week and was surprised with the difference. It has the same spin, if not better. Its a little bit more poppy than the elongated. It needs quite a bit of adjusting. But it could just be a break in thing. I love it though. I believe this is the best paddle line ever, price included.

So much value!!

Good power, great pop at the kitchen. The paddle has a nice feel and not stiff. The sweet spot is big therefore making it very forgiving.

Awesome topspin, great feel and controllable power

As an 4.0+ player who plays around 15 hours a week and has tried dozen paddles this year, I can confidently say the Spitfire Widebody is the best overall value I’ve found. Elite performance, excellent feel, and an unbeatable price point. Highly recommended!
Great power, pop, and feel. This is an excellent paddle at any price, but at around $100, it’s an absolute steal.

Another Winner

Another winner. The widebody plays a little more aggressive. One of the best widebodys out there.

The Spartus Spitfire Widebody

The Spartus Spitfire Widebody is an impressive paddle for players seeking a balance of spin, power, and maneuverability at an affordable price. Its Gen 4 Turbo Foam construction and textured carbon-fiber face offer excellent spin potential, making it well suited for topspin drives, aggressive counters, and serves. The widebody shape provides a forgiving hitting area and quick handling for fast kitchen exchanges. However, its lively feel may take some adjustment for players who prioritize soft touch, and it offers less reach than the elongated version. Overall, it’s a strong value for doubles players who want an aggressive, spin-focused paddle without spending premium prices.

The Spitfire Widebody

The Spitfire Widebody is exactly what I have been waiting for. I purchased the elongated Spitfire a month ago but was having trouble adjusting to the higher swing weight and balance point. The Widebody is perfect for my style of play. It is quick in the hands, has a large sweet spot, is very forgiving and the spin is top tier. When Spartus releases their Hybrid I will definitely purchase it.

Fixed my failing game!

So I've been in my worst sports slump ever since the end of July barely winning matches, let alone games. My regular shots just weren't working anymore! I was using the Spartus P1 to play with the Franklin X-40 which went pretty well, but not perfect. I couldn't use the P1 with the Lifetime ball as it just played way different by popping up, rolls going out, no quick hands so losing most hand battles, and timing way off. For that ball, I had to use an alternate paddle I won't name, but also had the same problem in reverse, but worse. I know 1 problem was they were both too head heavy which is probably what threw my timing off, and deleted my quick hands.

Enter the Spartus Spitfire, my last hope; It was seriously getting depressing because I knew I could play way better! So last Wednesday I had a great session prepping my guys for a tourney winning 5-2 using the X-40, so that gave me some hope; the real test would be the Lifetime ball. Monday I played with that ball, and played phenomenal! I was still skeptical maybe getting lucky or needing to play tougher matchups. So I played yesterday and killed with it again. Each day was compliments how much better I was playing, and having been the best on the court each day. I'm was back to form!

I was shocked at how little adjustment I needed, it felt like I was using this paddle for a while already. I have a long history using Spartus; it's hands down the best, most consistent brand I've ever used. No I'm not getting paid to say this! 😂 I had 4 Spartus Apollo Kevlar's which was the best paddle I've ever used, just their grit didn't last as was common back then. It go discontinued so I moved to the Spartus Oracle Apex which was pretty good, but fell behind the Apollo a little bit, really liked it though. Then that got discontinued for the Spartus P1 with the new grit technology. Great paddle, but I had trouble switching between ball brands as mentioned. The Spartus Spitfire is, at minimum, equal to the Apollo, but may be ever better! If the grit lasts a long time, it'll be my clear #1!

Anyway, down to how it plays. I'm a former high level badminton player (long time ago! 😂) so I have lots of power in my game. This makes me mostly lean to widebody control paddles as power can be added with lead tape, but it's much harder to add control. The Spitfire is the ultimate control paddle, but with power when needed! I can endurance dink at will, put away the ball with a massive smash, and basically do what I want when I want with the ball. The Apollo lacked a bit of power, but could always be added with lead tape. I haven't used a better balanced power/control paddle for me than the Spitfire. It literally blows anything out of the water I have used before minus the Apollo; still better though!

At this insane price for a great paddle, I definitely advise you give it a try! I'm literally going to buy a backup one after I submit this review.

I'M BACK Baby! 🔥

Terrific paddle!

I'm 74 and a 4.0 player. Have had many paddles, mostly Engage and Selkirk. Decided to try the Spitfire after Chris Olson's review. I've always played elongated, but decided to try a widebody after doing a swing/twist weight comparison. Playing it stock, without adding weight, and love it. Big sweet spot. Very stable. Tons of control. Plenty of power....and the value is unbeatable. Nice work Spartus!

I love this paddle

I love this paddle. I'm letting my friends hit it and some said they are ordering it. I expect some perks for helping promote it. Great job making this paddle. Still breaking it in. Great pop and spin.

excellent paddle

excellent paddle, hits well and the grit for spin is awesome! Price point with cover and shipping included makes this a good buy. The shorter handle works better for my smaller hand's vs the elongated model.

Amazing paddle

Amazing paddle. Good power once weighted up, fantastic resets, and the pop is very controllable. I’ve bought a dozen other paddles but this one feels perfect. I may never buy a different paddle again.

Excellent control and fast in battles

I have played with Joola IV and V Perseus, then Luzz Cannon Pro, then refined my skill and moved towards control with Joola V Kosmo. Thought I found a better control in the J2CR that became my main. Tried the Joola Power Flex. Then on my first game with this Spitfire widebody, it felt so comfortable and familiar in my hand. Excellent control and even faster than the J2CR and with a slightly bigger power on drives and smashes. The grit is excellent with excellent top spin. For the price of $100, I can replace this anytime and not worry about longevity of grit.

Spitfire WB...Nice!!

I have limited playtime on my Spitfire WB, but I'm really enjoying it. As expected the spin is great, but only time will tell how that holds up. I like the somewhat soft and hollow feel. And I hope it softens a bit more as I break it in.
