My new favorite paddle!!
Great combination of power and pop without sacrificing control.
Great stock paddle right out of the box, though I customized mine with some tungsten tape and an over grip to meet my preferences.
It’s dialed in and brings an added level of skill and confidence to my game. Looks great too!
Added bonus is that I got a great deal. Father’s Day discount, stacked with a coupon saved me over 30%.
Thanks!
It took one game to realize that this was going to be a great paddle upgrade for me. The Olympus delivers solid power with no compromise to the control game. It has enhanced all aspects of my game.
This was the best paddle I’ve ever played with. Very well balanced, awesome power but great control when you need it. I found the paddle to have a very large sweet spot as well. My new favorite paddle.
Great all court paddle leaning heavily into the power category, Excellent pop in the kitchen and great power on ground strokes. This paddle has a small adjustment period. Loses a little control on dinks and drop shots. A little tungsten tape on the side of the paddlle helps. .
Power/Spin:
I've never tried the Olympus before buying it. It took me a bit of time to break it in, but after the break-in period and definitely now after about six months of use, I have found the spin to be absolutely incredible, especially on my serves. Power is good. I'd say about an 8 out of 10: definitely more power than any of the paddles in my collection, though I don't have a large amount of paddles.
I'd add, if you want to bring out the full potential of its power, some tungsten might be a benefit because I found a moderate power increase in my weight set-up.
Sweet Spot:
For a 14 mm, it's pretty stable, if you're expecting it to be just like a 16 mm in terms of the sweet spot, this will not be quite that stable, but compared to other 13 and 14 mms I've used, it's definitely a step up from them.
Comes with a neoprene cover. This paddle receives my stamp of approval. Would buy again.
Excellent Paddle, feels well made, good power, pop and spin and very fast in the hands. Experimented with weight but I prefer stock. The paddle is well balanced.
so far I'm liking the Spartus Olympus, the power is there when you need it and pop as well but I was surprised with the control of the Olympus being a 14mm, the Olympus will be my main going forward, Thank you Spartus for making an awesome paddle and continue on making great and affordable paddles for the masses hoping to see a standard/widebody shape of the Olympus down the road
Great paddle. Great service .They want to know what you think about the paddle after you use it . I bought one for my wife . She loves it. So I tried it and bought one . I wrote a review and hit one star by accident. Yea I’m old and hate computers. Lol
Coming from an all control paddle to the Olympus is a game changer! This paddle is ridiculously so much better. More power, more pop! However, the learning curve from control to power does need some fine tuning especially on resets. This paddle does need some more play time from me to adjust. I have about 15-20 hrs on it as of now. If your looking to up your game this paddle will not disappoint!!
Great . Paddle. Great service. ( even after u buy it they want to know what u think ) The Spartus Olympus with its ascension core is a great choice . I got one for the wife and liked it so much I got one .
Just played with the Olympus for the first time this afternoon and wanted to contribute to the thread as I have been reading a lot of the reviews prior to purchasing.
Me: I'm a 5.0 player in my mid 40s. Been playing off and on for around 8 years and was a college tennis player. I've played with a variety of paddles over the years but for the past 4 years have only played with the Legacy pro 16mm an Pro S 16mm with no lead.
I'm drive the majority of my third shots and look to speed up the ball first chance to get onto hand battles.
The Olympus: Having never hit with a power paddle I wasn't expecting much because I can comfortably generate the necessary power on the majority of my shots. Where I was looking for help was on my backhand volleys and overhead put aways. I didn't want to drop $300 on a Joola, Selkirk or Gearbox so figured I'd give the Olympus a try.
Power 10: The ball comes of hot! Serves, drives volleys, overheads. It hits like a delaminated thermo but with control. I had to play around with my swing a tad on return as I generally cut my returns and was sailing them early but dialed them in by the end of the day.
Backhand put aways were insane and was able to destroy overheads and high forehands.
Control 8.5: First day with this paddle so an 8.5 will most likely go to a 9+ after a few more sessions or a few paddle modifications. Thirds were good, drops were solid but struggling with my drop volleys. I have a really good drop of baseline drives and struggled to soften drives do to the pop of the paddle. I hit a couple but honestly with the power I can generate there was really no need to drive.
Spin 9: Potential for a 10 here as I dial it it in but was happy with the topspin I could generate off drives and swing volleys.
Overall and recommendations: This is not a beginners paddle. "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility".....this paddle is a recipe for disaster in the wrong hands. IMO 4.0+ teetering on 4.5+.
This is an attack style paddle so if you are not an aggressive player and prefer resetting and dinking I'd go with a softer feeling paddle.
If you find yourself attacking and your opponents able to reset your shots then this paddle could address that problem.
You need to have a very fast swing speed or lead the top of the paddle to help you whip through the ball.
If you are in the market for a power paddel I'd definitely give this paddle a go, I was impressed by a paddle I was not expecting to be impressed by.
PS: I have no financial benefit in this review and paid full retail for the paddel.
I got my first Olympus paddle about a month ago and instantly loved it. Had major durability issues with my previous paddle company. After core crushing my 7th paddle which still had a warranty, I threw the receipt and paddle in the trash. Started doing some research and decided to give Spartus a shot. Bc the Olympus was so good, I now have 4 of them.
Incredible paddle!!!! It’s 14mm but plays like a 16mm. Has great power, pop, and fantastic control. Happy to be an ambassador for an incredible brand. For my next tournament this will be the paddle that I will be playing with.
Best paddle ever. One of the most well rounded power paddles that has such good touch and control. Drives are amazing with this paddle, as well as solid soft game.
Excellent paddle. Great for those who are searching for the most controllable power and more linear output of power. It has a distinct feel because of the foam in the core. The foam is no where near as compressible as other "gen 3" paddles on the market, which is not prone to expansion nore delamination. Paddle does not get hotter with time, but it does get more controllable (opinion).
The best thing of this paddle might be the defensive game. Counters are surprisingly good. Since it has the foam, the paddle feels "full". In defensive shots, the ball just goes back with the same power as it came. It throws off a few people.
Spin is impressive, as well as how it lasts. The face is very gritty, and does not lose much of it's integrity.
It does take a bit of time to dial in, but it is worth it. People who want a solid paddle should consider it.
Best all-court hybrid there is at the moment.
This paddle feels amazing! It has become my preferred paddle, since it has plenty of power comparable to the top of the line Paddleteks which are my preffered paddles. The power is very linear and has great feel of the ball. You can adjust your power very accurately, unlike joola gen 3’s or Mod TA’s. The thing I like the most is how well it plays the soft game at the net and when you need to be aggressive it will back you up with aggressive counters and flicks. Overall this paddle is a no-brainer and feels of premium quality, the core, the grit all scream quality.
